Position Summary

The Assembly and Installation Specialist works with production personnel to fabricate finish product, measures and patterns boats for covers, and to install them when complete. This person will be working in close collaboration with the Production Manager, Engineering teams, and floor production personnel. 

Minimum Qualification

Experience

  • Two years experience in a custom fabrication shop preferred.
  • Sewing experience required. Industrial sewing experience preferred.
  • Construction or installation experience required. Including the use of basic hand tools.
  • Calculate math accurately.
  • Current Drivers License; and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established Rainier Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state(s).

 Education

  • High school or equivalent preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge and skills using basic power and hand tools
  • Proficiency with typical business software - Microsoft Office
  • A good understanding of systems and procedures

Principle Accountabilities

  • Work with the fabrication team to assist in production
    • Based on skills and current Production needs Examples include:
      • Digital scans of patterns, updating scans in CAD, sewing, fabricating bonded windows, cutting fabric, inventory handling, cycle counting, metal shop fabrication, welding, tube bending, tube polishing, etc.
    • Survey boats
      • Measure, pattern, and scan boats
        • Use of company vehicle required (see Minimum Qualifications on p.2)
      • Review Job details before survey and develop a survey plan
      • Must interface positively with Sales, Design, Teammates, Management, and Customers
    • Update Job information based on survey information
      • Update Job details after survey
      • Confirm/update the Job details: complete, accurate, well written, and ready for Production
    • Remain flexible and work on other tasks/projects assigned by your Supervisor
    • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality level as required
    • Maintain a clean and organized shop/vehicle

Physical & Environmental Factors

  • Be able and willing to work both in the Shop and on-site (on boats) as needed
    • Work in the Shop using typical fabrication tools and equipment
      • Hand tools, measuring tools, power tools, scissors, Sewing machines, etc.
    • Work on boats (as required) to measure, pattern, and install (often in teams)
      • Comfortable working on both floating (moving) and elevated boats on land
      • Use of hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, scissors, ratchet straps, etc.
    • Climb a ladder and comfortably work 20' above ground (feet 16' from floor/ground)
    • Material handling required
      • Frequently lift, carry, and manage inventory, tools, supplies, ladders, equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
      • Occasionally work on and assist team members with material handling when the size of a project requires 2 or more people to handle (greater than 50 pounds).
    • Constant standing and walking
    • Frequent physical demands requiring mobile dexterity to include bending, stooping, pulling, climbing, and reaching
