Position Summary:

Woodshop Fabricator is a skilled position within our Display Woodshop Department. This position is responsible for fabricating innovative and high-quality display products. These types of products include but not limited to museum quality case work, mill work and finishing. Each project is unique and will require different skills (for example: cabinet building, laminating, raw lumber glue up and staining with clear coat). Individuals must be able to work in a team environment and perform tasks with minimum supervision. Occasionally this position will require interaction with internal customers such as sales, purchasing and project management.

  • Attention to detail while reading shop drawings and job travelers
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math skills
  • Maintain an organized and clean workspace
  • Follow the inspection checklist and perform inline QC throughout all phases of production
  • Continually look for ways to improve our quality standards

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels by issuing and returning materials to jobs
  • Complete operations within estimated hours
  • Eliminate waste and continue to improve our lean manufacturing process
  • Continually look for ways to improve our manufacturing methods and increase efficiencies throughout the fabrication process

Minimum Qualifications

  • Comfortable with using shop equipment such as table saw, chop saw, routers, band saw, drill press and hand held tools such as sanders and nail / staple guns
  • Able to read and build from shop drawings
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills

Experience

  • Required - prior manufacturing, fabrication or construction experience
  • Required 1 year of experience in laminating or equivalent finishing work
  • Preferred - 2 years of experience in cabinetry building or casework construction
  • Experience in operating CNC machine would be a plus

Education

  • High school graduate preferred

Physical & Environmental Factors

  • Constant standing and walking
  • Frequent physical demands requiring mobile dexterity to include bending, stooping, pulling, climbing, and reaching
  • Frequent exposure to electrical hazard and high-powered tools and machinery
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, infrequent lifting of greater than 50 pounds
  • Occasional use of solvents, adhesives and paint
